The Worldview Imperative:  Guide all students to a Biblical Christian Worldview through curricular, extra-curricular and student life programming.

1.  Goal One:  Integration of biblical worldview

Action Points:

  • Intentional biblical integration in every lesson of every subject
  • Program for parents to study biblical worldview
  • Annual review of Bible curriculum
  • Educate/promote/communicate biblical worldview endeavors

2.  Goal Two:  Dynamic Chapel Services

  • Received a Rockwell Green Grant for a lunch compost program. Implemented the first week of school!
  • Purchased pedometers

The Learning Imperative:  Create a dynamic environment that includes cutting edge technology, the best Christian curricula in the nation and enrichment programs.

 

1.  Goal One:  Become ACSI Accredited

 

Action Points:

  • The Academy to become CEU provider
  • Documentation/curriculum guide – on-going in 2011-2012

Recently completed: 

  • Approved by ACSI as CEU provider
  • All Faculty has become ACSI certified.

2.  Goal Two:  Develop Evaluation Process

  • Develop Learning Expectations by grade
  • PR program on Education Philosophy

Recently Completed:

  • Statement of education philosophy and statement of educational objectives completed.
  • Statement of education philosophy and statement of educational objectives distributed to staff.
  • Learning expectations/outcomes have been completed for preschool and Pre-K.
  • Ongoing – sharing education philosophy with all prospective families.

3.  Goal Three:  Enhanced Learning Opportunities

  • Develop Enrichment Program
    • Determine criteria to identify students
    • Consult with Belin-Blank
    • Explore grouping ideas
  • Promote academic competitions
  • Develop purity/abstinence program
    • Replacement for Powerful Choices - 6-8th Grade
    • Human Growth & Development - 5th Grade

Recently Completed:

  • Enrichment program begun for Kindergarten and 1st Grade
  • Powerful Choices handed off materials/training
  • Students participated in ACSI Spelling Bee, Speech Meet, Math Olympics
  • 5th grade human growth and development program instituted

The Teaching Imperative:  Recruit and support passionate Christian educators who are trained in professional teaching/learning strategies and Biblical Worldview integration.

 

1.  Goal One:  Recruit and hire the best Christian staff

 

Action Points:

  • Establish contacts at Christian colleges/ACSI
  • Teacher compensation study
  • Review professional development reimbursement program

Recently Completed:

  • Contacts established at Dordt College, Trinity Christian College and Northwestern College

2.  Goal Two:  Provide Staff Development

  • Funding for conferences & speakers
  • Teacher expectations on annual contract
  • Mentoring program for 1st year teachers

Recently Completed:

  • Job descriptions completed; part of annual contract
  • Employee lifestyle statement approved by board 
  • ParentsWeb allows for increased communication between teachers and parents

3.  Goal Three:  Teacher Evaluation Process

          Recently Completed:

  • All staff completed self-evaluations; to become a regular part of annual evaluations
  • Annual evaluation format modified to line up with new job description format, and better reflect professional teaching standards.

 

The Growth Imperative:  Provide the opportunity for a Christian education for all desiring students in our community.

 

1.       Goal One:  Study feasibility of beginning a high school program

  • Assemble study team led by Administrator

2.  Goal Two:  Develop a student recruitment program

Recently completed:

  • All phases of marketing plan implemented.  27 new families and 30 new students. Enrollment is 225; last year it was 204.
  • All new families have been interviewed prior to extending a contract
  • Admissions process moving to Ren-Web in Summer of 2011; staff took Ren-Web training
  • New family welcome program by PTF. New family picnic held August 28th.

3.  Goal Three:  Expand Community Relations Program

  • Activate the Board Public Relations Committee
    • Annual community activity involvement/calendar
    • Logo/branding policy
    • Media relations program
    • Alumni involvement plan
  • VIP volunteer program

  • Alumni families from 2011 sent Alumni Fellowship welcome letter

  • School will participate in The Swamp Fox Parade, September 2011

4.  Goal Four:  Develop Board leadership

  • Refine nominating committee process
    • Develop list of potential board members
    • Involve potential members on committees
  • Board training
    • Required reading of "Serving God in the Christian School"; “A Christian Paidea” added to reading list
    • ACSI Board training
    • Board code of ethics

The Financial Imperative:  Strengthen our financial foundation.

 

1.  Goal One:  Set financial goals

2.  Goal Two:  Establish Financial Standard Operating Procedures (SOP)

Recently completed:

  • Academy has contracted with Ren-Web for an all-school management system.
  • Staff trained on Ren-Web
  • Ren-Web donor software installed. Staff training scheduled for summer and fall.

3.  Goal Three:  Future sustainability

  • STO/scholarship funds for 2011-12 year
  • Planned giving program
  • Ad Hoc development committee

Recently completed:

  • STO fundraising goal met:  $64,975
  • Development committee members finalized

The Facilities Imperative:  Improve current facility and research expansion.

 

1.  Goal One:  Short-Range Building Plan

 

Action Points:

  • Top to bottom inspection
  • List of needs/quotes
  • Volunteer expertise list

Recently Completed:

  • Top to bottom inspection of building and systems
  • List of pressing needed improvements with cost figures
  • Library shelves funded and constructed.

2.  Goal Two:  Long-Range Building Plan

 

Action Points:

  • Study New Covenant feasibility
  • Develop plan for current building
    • Renovations list
    • Possible gym/classroom addition

Recently Completed:

 

·         After researching, the Board does not recommend renovating or expanding on our current site at this point.

·         Negotiations with New Covenant have resulted in agreement for purchase terms. Financial projections have been studied.

·         Team is currently working on final renovation figures, donor strategy.
