Our Passion

As a   parent or guardian, you are ultimately responsible for your child’s education.  The greater Cedar Rapids area offers many options when it comes to deciding how you will educate your child.  The public schools have a fine reputation; there are a number of good parochial schools, and a few other private schools as well. There is a vibrant home school community.

We believe that Isaac Newton Christian Academy is a very special place, both in its commitment to developing Christlike character as well as top notch academics.  We encourage you to pray, consider, and explore the various options before you make a decision on your child’s schooling. Whichever way you feel the Lord leading you to educate your children, it is important to prayerfully consider what is the best fit for your family’s and child’s needs.

Here are some points to ponder as you look at educating your child in a Christian environment.

 1.  Isaac Newton allows academic training with a Biblical Christian worldview.

Our students learn from Christian teachers using a Christian curriculum.  We believe this is vital to the development of children.  Teachers spend about six hours a day with your children, and have a tremendous influence on them.  We believe what they teach should be a continuation of the Biblical values and morals that you are teaching them at home.

 2.  Harmful belief systems such as secular humanism and the new age values of moral relativism are not supported at Isaac Newton.  We allow the Bible to define character; not the world.  Parents can take comfort in the fact that the teachers spending the day with their children don’t have an agenda that is contrary to the Bible or the family.

 3.  Many of our students go to public high school after graduating from 8th grade at the Academy.  We believe in preparing them to face the academic and social challenges that they will face in high school, and in teaching them to intelligently defend Biblical truth in a secular setting.  In this way, they can be “salt and light” in a secular world.  We believe that when children are young and their convictions about right and wrong are in the formation process, Christian schooling is very important.

 4.  Of course, even Christian kids aren’t perfect!  They need discipline and guidance.  At Isaac Newton, that disciplinary instruction is given under an umbrella of grace, not shame.  And the teachers have the latitude to correct a child through both consequences as well as through prayer and restoration.  So if your child is going to get into trouble, as all children do, parents have the confidence that discipline is being handled with truth in love.

 5. The family is integral to the success of the school.  We are governed by an elected Board of Directors made up mostly of parents.  Every family is required to volunteer time in various areas of the school.  There is wonderful fellowship enjoyed by families as they unite together under a common cause.

 6.  It can be quite a financial sacrifice to send your children to a private school.  But this is one sacrifice that we believe is worth every cent.  The families at Isaac Newton have chosen to be here and are strongly committed to the success of the school.
