Fifth Grade

This is my 7th year at Isaac Newton.  I came to the school because of students I was teaching in my 4th grade Sunday School class at church.  The three students from Isaac Newton were excellent readers, out doing everyone else.

I have a wonderful husband, Tim.  Our daughter Megan is at Iowa State and our son Brett is a senior at Center Point-Urbana High School. 

This year we are piloting the 5th grade “Building on the Rock” Bible curriculum by Summit Ministries.  After we cover the 20 Biblical principles we will study the life of Christ.  In Math, we use McDougal Littel.  Our other subjects use Abeka and Bob Jones materials.  We are busy reading the Iowa Children’s Choice books.  For Grandparents’ Day we are working on making puppets and writing puppet plays.

Our class verse this year is Ecclesiastes 3:1-8. “There is a time for everything.”  There is a time to speak, a time to have math, art, recess, etc!  We are busy having the best time possible learning all we can in 5th grade!
