Junior High Reading and History
“I have been at Isaac Newton since 1996, with some time in between for children! My family consists of my husband, Don, and four sons: Grant (9), Ben (8), Elliot (5), and Abraham (3). My Bachelor degree is from Iowa State, and I am currently completing my Masters from Dordt College.
“Junior High is new territory for me; I previously taught 4th grade at the Academy. My learning curve is very high! We use Abeka for language, trade books and short stories for reading, and in the area of writing we work on a variety of projects including book reports, short stories, poetry, news reports, and drama. Because of our aggressive program, there is more time scheduled for Language Arts than in most schools.
“Jesus is the Master Teacher. I want to learn of Him!”

Junior High Science, P.E., and Art
“This is my 5th year at Isaac Newton. I graduated from Northwestern College in Orange City, Iowa. I teach History and Science. Our main curricula are from Abeka and Bob Jones, and we have some really interesting units we study throughout the school year.
“In sixth grade, we study the history of the western hemisphere, and study general Science. In seventh grade we tackle world history, and the Life Sciences. And in 8th grade we work on American History and government, and the Earth Sciences. We either have a History Fair or a Science Fair each year. The kids come up with some amazing presentations and experiments, and get a chance to share their work at the Fairs with the rest of the school, and with their parents and relatives.
“1 Thessalonians 5:16-17 guides my life and sums up my personal approach to teaching. ‘Be joyful always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.’”

Junior High Language Arts and Math
"This is my 14th year teaching at Isaac Newton. I started out this year in Resource, but I am returning to Junior High for the remainder of the school year. I will once again be teaching the students their favorite subject, Language Arts. I will also have the privilege of teaching another of my favorite subjects, Math."
“I am married to my husband, Ken, and have three grown boys and four adorable grandsons. I graduated from Northwestern College in Orange City, Iowa.”
