Godspeed is a running club for 8th graders that meets in the spring. Over the course of 11 weeks, students use a run/walk program and gradually train to run 6.2 miles (10K)! As they finish their training, they are encouraged to participate as a group in a local 10K event. Students and parent volunteers learn the satisfaction of reaching a lofty goal through prayer, diligence and hard work. The group meets two times during the week to run during gym class, and then members are expected to run on their own one day on the weekend. This club provides excellent preparation for joining their high school cross-country team.
The team mantra is Isaiah 40:31..."but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint."
