ITBS Score Highlights

Isaac Newton Christian Academy participates in the Iowa Test of Basic Skills (ITBS) annually.  Students begin taking the tests in the third grade.

Our test scores show that we perform well above Iowa and national equivalents.  In fact, we use a general statement to summarize our scores:  Each year, in just about every subject, and at every grade level, we have the highest test scores in the Cedar Rapids area!  Here are a few highlights from our 2011 tests, which the students took in the spring of 2011.

Some fun facts....

  • Both the 7th and 8th grade students tested post high school on the national composite score.
  • 7th graders tested in the 99th percentile in language arts and the 98th percentile in science.
  • 6th graders tested 3 1/2 grade levels above grade level on the national composite.
  • 6th graders tested in the 98th percentile in language arts, 97th percentile in Science, and 96th percentile in math.
  • 5th graders tested at 2 1/2 grades above grade level in core subjects.
  • 4th graders tested close to 3 grade levels above grade level in science and language arts.

Grade Equivalents (Composite) - National

  • 3rd grade:            5.3
  • 4th grade:            6.0

"I was confident the very first day of high school that I was well prepared academically to take on difficult classes.  I feel equally well prepared to handle the challenges to my faith that will come along, too!" -- Kari Dummermuth, Kennedy High School freshman
