More Time for Christlike Character
Our 2025-2026 school year is now underway! It’s still hard to believe sometimes. We’ve spent so much time in thoughtful and prayerful consideration for this year, and it’s finally upon us. As the Director of Spiritual Formation, my hopeful expectation this year is that our students would grow in their walks with Jesus. There are times in the school year where that is a little more challenging. When the busy school year sets in and there is homework to do, tests to study for, and projects to complete, it’s easy to lose sight of the other parts of our mission. We’re always encouraged to take the time to go deeper into meaningful faith-based conversations, but it’s hard, as both students and teachers, to do that when the to-do list is so long.
Especially for our Upper School students, we’ve made some upgrades to our schedule to allow for more space throughout the day. We’ve added things like a welcome time before class starts, a 15 minute morning break, longer passing periods, and more time in chapel just to name a few. It feels like we are making strides that help us better live out our mission of developing Christlike Character. I’m hopeful that these refinements create space where our students feel more comfortable in exploring those faith-questions, that they can spend time in prayer with one another, or just simply remember the truth of their whole identity, which is that they are a child of God.
